Electrical Engineer - Food Manufacturing
Are you an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer looking for a permanent engineering role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We are recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join a busy engineering team at a large-scale food manufacturing site near Sleaford, Lincolnshire. This is a hands-on maintenance role working a 4 on / 4 off rotating shift pattern, supporting production machinery, breakdown response, planned preventative maintenance and continuous improvement across a high-volume manufacturing environment.
This opportunity would suit a practical, reliable and proactive engineer with strong electrical fault-finding skills and experience in manufacturing, production, FMCG, food processing, packaging, poultry, or a similar industrial environment.
The Role
As Electrical Engineer, you will provide engineering support to production, ensuring machinery, equipment and plant are maintained, repaired and operating efficiently. You will respond to breakdowns, complete PPM tasks, diagnose electrical faults and support improvements that increase equipment availability, reliability, performance and OEE.
You will be involved in:
- Responding quickly and safely to machinery breakdowns, plant stoppages and equipment faults
- Carrying out electrical maintenance, repairs, servicing and adjustments on production machinery
- Completing planned preventative maintenance tasks
- Fault finding on single-phase and three-phase electrical systems
- Supporting machinery performance, reliability, uptime and OEE improvement
- Ensuring equipment operates efficiently and meets production requirements
- Recording engineering activity, labour and parts accurately using SAP / PPM systems
- Working closely with production teams, engineering colleagues and external engineers
- Supporting Health & Safety standards, including COSHH and lock-out/tag-out procedures
- Completing maintenance records, engineering documentation and PPM paperwork
- Supporting continuous improvement, energy reduction and site efficiency initiatives
- Assisting with training new starters, apprentices and production colleagues where required
The Candidate
We are looking for an electrically qualified engineer with strong hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
You will need:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
- Recognised UK electrical engineering qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, production, FMCG, food manufacturing or similar
- Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems
- Ability to work safely and make good decisions under pressure
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to complete accurate maintenance records and engineering documentation
- A proactive, reliable and quality-focused approach to engineering
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Food manufacturing, food processing or poultry machinery
- FMCG, packaging, automated production or high-speed manufacturing environments
- SAP or similar computerised maintenance management systems
- OEE improvement, first-time fix and machinery reliability
- Mechanical awareness or multi-skilled engineering capability
- 17th or 18th Edition electrical qualification
