Are you a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer looking for a permanent role with a condensed working pattern? We are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join a busy engineering team in Anwick, Lincolnshire, working Saturday, Sunday and Monday only, 4pm to 4am. This is a hands-on maintenance role supporting production machinery, planned maintenance, breakdown response and continuous improvement across a large-scale food manufacturing site.

This opportunity would suit a practical, reliable and proactive engineer with strong mechanical fault-finding skills and experience working in manufacturing, production, FMCG, food processing or a similar industrial environment.

The Role

As Mechanical Engineer, you will provide an effective engineering service to production, ensuring machinery and equipment are maintained, repaired and running efficiently. You will respond to breakdowns, complete planned preventative maintenance, support OEE improvement and help maximise equipment availability and performance. You will be involved in:

  • Responding quickly and safely to plant stoppages and equipment breakdowns
  • Carrying out mechanical maintenance, repairs and adjustments on production machinery
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance and delegated engineering tasks
  • Fault finding on machinery, mechanical drive systems, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Supporting improvements to equipment performance, reliability and uptime
  • Ensuring machinery operates efficiently and meets product specification requirements
  • Recording engineering activity, labour and parts accurately using SAP / PPM systems
  • Working with engineering leaders, production teams and external engineers
  • Supporting Health & Safety standards, including COSHH and lock-out/tag-out procedures
  • Completing engineering documentation, maintenance records and PPM paperwork
  • Supporting continuous improvement, energy reduction and environmental initiatives

The Candidate

We are looking for a mechanically qualified engineer with strong hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment. You will need:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent mechanical qualification
  • Recognised UK engineering qualifications
  • Previous experience in manufacturing operations
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working on breakdowns, maintenance and machinery improvements
  • Good decision-making skills and the ability to work safely under pressure
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Ability to complete accurate engineering records and maintenance documentation

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:

  • Food manufacturing, food processing or poultry machinery
  • FMCG, production, packaging or automated manufacturing environments
  • Welding, ideally TIG
  • Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Automated machinery
  • SAP or similar maintenance management systems
  • 17th or 18th Edition electrical qualification
