Are you an experienced IT Support Engineer, IT Specialist or 2nd Line Support Engineer looking for a hands-on, site-based IT role within a busy manufacturing environment? This is an excellent opportunity to join a large-scale production site where IT uptime, service availability and operational support genuinely matter. You will become a key on-site IT specialist, supporting production teams, engineering teams and site leadership across a broad range of technologies in a fast-paced operational environment. This is not a remote helpdesk role. This is a visible, hands-on IT support role where you will provide real-time technical support and help keep a live manufacturing operation running effectively.

The Role

As the IT Site Services Specialist, you will provide hands-on 2nd Line IT Support across a complex site-based production environment. You will support end users, factory systems and operational teams, while helping to maintain service availability, resolve incidents and drive improvements across the IT environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing on-site 2nd Line IT Support across a busy production environment
  • Supporting end-user devices, mobile devices and printing hardware
  • Supporting factory and production systems
  • Supporting VOIP telephony, AV equipment and network cabling
  • Working closely with engineering teams, production teams and site leadership
  • Acting as a key point of contact for technical issues and incident resolution
  • Managing incidents, service requests, changes and problem records
  • Supporting Business Change Requests and IT project activity
  • Carrying out proactive maintenance, upgrades, software patching and lifecycle improvements
  • Monitoring service performance and identifying risks or areas for improvement
  • Liaising with third-party suppliers and vendors for technical support and maintenance
  • Maintaining documentation, configuration records and technical standards
  • Supporting service improvement initiatives and operational efficiency projects
  • Delivering user guidance and excellent customer service to colleagues
  • Ensuring agreed service levels and operational support standards are achieved

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with candidates who have experience in roles such as: IT Support Engineer, IT Specialist, 2nd Line Support Engineer, Site IT Engineer, Infrastructure Support Engineer, Manufacturing IT Support Engineer, Factory IT Support Engineer, Technical Support Engineer, IT Field Support Engineer.

You will ideally have:

  • 3+ years experience supporting complex production, manufacturing or site-based operational environments
  • Strong hands-on 2nd Line IT Support experience
  • Experience supporting factory, production or operational teams
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams and senior site stakeholders
  • Knowledge of mobile devices, printers and AV equipment
  • VOIP telephony configuration and support experience
  • Experience with network cabling
  • Experience using IT service management and monitoring tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident/problem management skills
  • Good understanding of ITIL principles, including Incident, Change and Problem Management
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Experience working in a live production or manufacturing environment would be highly desirable.
