You will work across electrical and mechanical systems, delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown support, while contributing to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives. This role suits an engineer who enjoys working on industrial plant, fault-finding under pressure, and being part of a stable, operationally critical manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on feed mill equipment including conveyors, mixers, elevators, presses, coolers and packaging systems.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, fault-finding across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems to restore production safely and efficiently.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems including motors, sensors, control panels and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Undertake mechanical maintenance such as bearing changes, belt and gearbox replacements, and fabrication or welding where required.
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives, helping reduce downtime and improve asset performance.
  • Assist with installations, commissioning and plant upgrades, including energy efficiency projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work within the CMMS, ensuring compliance and traceability.
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to minimise disruption and maintain product standards.
  • Adhere to all health, safety and environmental procedures, promoting a proactive safety culture.

What We're Looking For

  • A recognised qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (e.g. NVQ Level 3, BTEC Level 4 or equivalent).
  • Electrical qualification such as 17th or 18th Edition (or equivalent).
  • Strong mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven fault-finding and breakdown response capability.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • A hands-on, team-oriented engineer with good communication skills and attention to detail.

Why Apply?

  • Stable, long-term manufacturing environment.
  • Modern, automated plant and equipment.
  • Structured maintenance strategy (PPM and reliability focused).
  • Opportunities for ongoing training and technical development.
  • Clear scope for long-term career progression.
