, you will join an established litigation team and provide high-quality support to experienced Partners, Solicitors and Fee Earners.

You will be trusted to manage important documents, support court processes, communicate with clients and help keep a busy department running smoothly.

The Role As Litigation Legal Secretary, you will provide professional secretarial and administrative support across a varied litigation caseload.

You will prepare legal correspondence, court documents, Statements, Settlement Agreements and Instructions to Counsel, while maintaining accurate files and supporting billing, compliance and client administration.

Litigation can move quickly, so you will need to be organised, accurate and calm when priorities change.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Providing secretarial and administrative support to Partners, Solicitors and Fee Earners
  • Preparing legal correspondence and documents using digital dictation and audio typing
  • Producing first drafts of correspondence where appropriate
  • Preparing Statements, Settlement Agreements and Instructions to Counsel
  • Formatting and tabulating legal documents
  • Using CE-File to upload documents for the Court
  • Using the HM Land Registry portal to obtain title documents
  • Creating and maintaining electronic document bundles
  • Operating legal case management and document management systems
  • Opening, maintaining, closing and archiving files
  • Preparing client care letters, terms and conditions and standard documentation
  • Managing diaries, meetings, appointments and travel
  • Supporting time recording, billing and financial administration
  • Monitoring compliance reports and supporting Lexcel standards
  • Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • Communicating professionally with clients by telephone, email and in person
  • Retrieving and processing original documents in line with compliance procedures
  • Supporting new enquiries and directing them to the correct team
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times
  • Identifying practical ways to improve efficiency and client service

About You You will be an organised, accurate and dependable Legal Secretary who is comfortable working within a professional, deadline-driven environment.

  • Previous litigation experience would be highly advantageous, particularly within:
  • Civil litigation
  • Commercial litigation
  • Dispute resolution
  • Property litigation

Applications are also welcomed from experienced Legal Secretaries from another legal discipline who are keen to move into litigation.

You should have

  • Previous Legal Secretary, Legal PA or professional secretarial experience
  • Experience using digital dictation or audio typing
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Microsoft Word skills
  • Accurate typing and document-production abilities
  • Excellent spelling, punctuation and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of document formatting, track changes and legal house styles
  • The ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload
  • Confidence working to deadlines
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive and practical approach
  • A genuine can-do attitude
  • Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills
  • A clear understanding of client confidentiality

Experience using

CE-File, Bundle Docs, i Manage, Elite 3E, Docu Sign or PDFDocs would be beneficial but is not essential.
