Are you a science graduate, experienced Laboratory Technician, Lab Assistant, QA Technician or QC Technician looking to develop your career within a growing renewables business? This is an excellent opportunity to join a company working within anaerobic digestion, biogas, environmental testing and sustainable agriculture. You do not need to have years of specialist biogas experience. This role could suit someone with a degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science or a related subject. It could also suit someone who is qualified by experience, having gained hands-on laboratory, QA, QC, quality, testing, sampling or analysis experience in a workplace environment.
You will be part of a brand-new, state-of-the-art laboratory near Grantham, working alongside the Laboratory Manager, Head of Bioprocess and Senior Biologist. You will support routine laboratory testing, sample preparation, analysis, reporting and general laboratory operation. The Role
As Laboratory Technician, you will support the day-to-day running of the laboratory, carrying out routine testing and analysis on samples from operational sites. You will help with sample receipt, preparation, logging, testing, data entry, reporting and maintaining accurate laboratory records. You will also help ensure laboratory equipment is used correctly, the working environment is kept safe and organised, and all work is completed in line with SOPs, COSHH, health and safety procedures and quality standards. Full training and support will be provided, making this a strong opportunity for someone who is motivated, accurate, reliable and keen to develop within a technical laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine laboratory testing and sample analysis.
- Support the operation of a brand-new, state-of-the-art laboratory near Grantham.
- Work alongside the Laboratory Manager, Head of Bioprocess and Senior Biologist.
- Receive, log, prepare and process laboratory samples.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, spreadsheets and databases.
- Enter test results and support routine reporting.
- Follow laboratory methods, SOPs, COSHH documents and risk assessments.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, cleanliness and data quality.
- Help ensure equipment is used, cleaned and maintained correctly.
- Support stock control, consumables and general laboratory organisation.
- Work safely and follow all health, safety and quality procedures.
- Support sampling, testing and analysis linked to anaerobic digestion and biogas operations.
- Assist with new methods, laboratory improvements and R&D activity where required.
About You
You may be a recent graduate, Laboratory Technician, Trainee Laboratory Technician, Lab Assistant, QA Technician, QC Technician, Quality Technician, Analytical Technician, Environmental Laboratory Technician, Water Testing Technician, Biology Technician, Chemistry Technician or someone with practical testing, sampling or quality experience looking for your next step. You will ideally have:
- A degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science or a related subject, OR be qualified by experience in a laboratory, QA, QC, quality, testing, sampling or analysis role.
- Some experience or understanding of laboratory testing, sample preparation, quality control, analysis, inspection or data recording.
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Confidence using Excel, databases or general IT systems.
- A reliable, organised and safety-conscious approach.
- Willingness to learn new testing methods and laboratory procedures.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small technical team.
- An interest in renewable energy, environmental science, biology, chemistry, agriculture or sustainability.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle would be beneficial.
Experience within anaerobic digestion, biogas, water, wastewater, food, environmental testing, agriculture, chemistry, biology, manufacturing quality, QA, QC or another testing-based environment would be useful, but full training will be provided for the right person.
