Job Description

Location: Hybrid / Multi-Site ideally based near Peterborough, Lincoln, Scunthorpe, Hull, Doncaster, Grantham or the East Coast corridor
Salary: Circa £57,000 + £6,000 car allowance, with higher salary considered DOE
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Sector: Renewable Energy / Anaerobic Digestion / Process Engineering

Are you an experienced EC&I Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer, Instrumentation Engineer, Senior Electrical Engineer, High Voltage Engineer, Control Systems Engineer or Automation Engineer looking for a senior technical role with real influence?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing renewable energy business as its in-house Electrical, Control and Instrumentation specialist, supporting a portfolio of operational anaerobic digestion and process plant sites.

This is not a routine site maintenance role. As Group EC&I Engineer, you will take ownership of electrical and control standards across multiple sites, supporting infrastructure upgrades, control system improvements, technical troubleshooting, supplier management and long-term plant reliability.

You will play a key role in shaping group-wide EC&I standards, improving site consistency and supporting future technical development across renewable energy and process plant operations.

Whats in It for You?

Circa £57,000 salary
£6,000 car allowance
Higher salary considered for the right candidate
Permanent, full-time position
Senior group-level EC&I role
Hybrid working with multi-site responsibility
Opportunity to influence EC&I standards across multiple operational sites
Varied work across renewable energy, anaerobic digestion and process engineering
Involvement in infrastructure upgrades, reliability improvements and technical projects
Long-term opportunity within a growing renewable energy business

Location and Working Pattern

This is a hybrid, group-wide role covering operational sites across East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire / Peterborough.

Your home site would usually be the company site closest to your home location. However, you will need to travel across the group as required, particularly where a specific technical issue, infrastructure project, upgrade or site requirement needs your support.

For ease of travel, this role would suit someone based along the eastern side of the country, ideally within reasonable reach of the main operating areas.

Suitable locations could include Peterborough, Lincoln, Scunthorpe, Hull, Doncaster, Grantham, Boston, Spalding, Newark, Grimsby, York, Beverley, Huntingdon, Cambridge or surrounding areas.

There may also be occasional escalation support as part of the role. This would not usually be the first point of contact, as issues would normally be escalated through site engineering, plant management and maintenance management before reaching the Group EC&I Engineer. In many cases, this may involve phone-based technical support or remote advice rather than site attendance.

The Role

As Group EC&I Engineer, you will act as the companys in-house specialist for electrical, control and instrumentation engineering.

You will provide technical support and troubleshooting across existing installations, maintenance activities, repairs, equipment replacement, site upgrades and new infrastructure projects.

You will develop group-wide technical standards and standard EC&I solutions to improve consistency across current and future assets. You will assess existing infrastructure, identify obsolescence and recommend suitable upgrade plans.

A key part of the role will involve working with internal engineering teams and external EC&I vendors to standardise SCADA systems, improve process control and support automation of reporting systems linked to reliability and plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

Develop company-wide EC&I standards, specifications and technical solutions
Support High Voltage and Low Voltage infrastructure across operational sites
Review existing assets and identify obsolescence, reliability and upgrade requirements
Standardise SCADA, PLC, HMI, DCS and control system approaches
Support automation and reporting improvements linked to process reliability
Provide EC&I troubleshooting support for existing and new installations
Support maintenance, repair and replacement of EC&I equipment and components
Liaise with Distribution Network Operators on High Voltage connections
Support supplier negotiation, design standards and infrastructure contracts
Produce and update electrical safety procedures and company standards
Create EC&I specifications and technical supplier requirement documents
Review supplier and installer documentation
Investigate and resolve technical problems
Produce technical assessment reports
Manage technical interfaces with EC&I suppliers, installers and internal teams
Support health and safety procedures, risk assessments and site safety standards

About You

You will be a technically credible EC&I professional with strong experience in industrial, process, energy, utilities, manufacturing or similar environments.

You may currently be working as an EC&I Engineer, Senior EC&I Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Senior Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer, Instrumentation Engineer, Control Systems Engineer, Automation Engineer, HV Engineer or Electrical Project Engineer.

You will ideally have experience across:

EC&I engineering design, maintenance or project delivery
High Voltage power systems
Low Voltage power distribution
IEE Wiring Regulations
Motor Control Centres
Process instrumentation
SCADA systems
PLC, HMI or DCS control systems
Electrical safety systems and standards
DNO liaison and High Voltage connections
Supplier, installer or contractor technical management

Experience within anaerobic digestion, biogas, gas production, renewable energy, utilities, chemical, water, wastewater, food manufacturing, FMCG or wider process plant environments would be highly desirable.

Qualifications

You will ideally hold an NVQ Level 4 Electrical or Control & Instrumentation apprenticeship, or an equivalent qualification.

Highly desirable experience or qualifications include:

High Voltage networks and Distribution Network Operator experience
CompEx 14 for electrical engineers working in hazardous areas
CompEx 11 for engineers working in hazardous areas
Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards
Experience with SCADA, PLC, HMI or DCS systems from major manufacturers
Practical experience in EC&I design, maintenance and construction projects

Why Apply?

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior group-level EC&I role within renewable energy.

You will have the chance to shape technical standards, improve reliability, influence infrastructure decisions and support the development of multiple operational process plant sites.

For an experienced EC&I Engineer who wants more technical ownership, broader influence and genuine involvement in plant improvement, this is an excellent opportunity.
