Our client is a well-established and fast-growing engineering training organisation, working with over 300 engineering and manufacturing employers across the UK. They deliver Level 3 apprenticeships and commercial training that feeds real talent directly into industry.

They are now looking for an experienced Fabrication & Welding professional to step into a Department Team Leader role combining technical delivery, leadership, and real influence over how the next generation of engineers is trained.

The Role (What You’ll Actually Be Doing)

You’ll lead the Fabrication & Welding department, managing instructors while remaining involved in delivery across:

  • Fabrication
  • Welding
  • Pipefitting / Pipe Welding
  • Commercial & apprenticeship programmes
Key focus areas:
  • Planning and coordinating training across multiple sites
  • Ensuring high-quality, consistent delivery
  • Supporting instructors with lesson planning and standards
  • Carrying out observations and quality checks
  • Keeping workshops safe, compliant and industry-ready
  • Working with employers to keep training relevant
  • Making sure learners leave work-ready, not just qualified

You’ll also act as the lead TWI Welding Inspector for commercial training activity.

What They’re Looking ForEssential
  • Strong background in fabrication & welding
  • Experience in welding, pipefitting, plating or sheet metal (expertise in one is fine)
  • Level 3 qualification or time-served apprenticeship
  • Teaching qualification ideal (PGCE / DTLLS / Cert Ed)
  • Confident leading people
  • Comfortable with planning, organisation and IT
Nice to Have (Fully Funded if You Don’t Have Them)
  • Assessor / Verifier qualifications
  • TWI Welding Inspector certification
Location & Travel

Multi-site role: Hull, Grimsby & Scunthorpe. Full UK driving licence required. Mileage and bridge tolls fully covered.
