RecruitME is supporting the appointment of a Plant Manager for a complex resource recovery and renewable energy site in Lanarkshire. This is a senior site leadership role with full responsibility for a facility that combines an MRF with an Energy from Waste / CHP operation, using gasification technology to generate renewable electricity in a continuous 24/7 environment.
We are keen to speak with experienced Plant Managers, Operations Managers, Site Managers or senior operational leaders from environments such as: Energy from Waste, CHP, power generation, biomass, gasification, process plant, utilities, waste management, recycling, resource recovery, heavy industry or regulated manufacturing.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will take ownership of site performance, operational leadership, EH&S, environmental compliance, maintenance interface, budgets, people leadership and continuous improvement. This is a broad, hands-on leadership role where you will lead both the EfW plant and MRF operation, ensuring the site runs safely, efficiently and in line with operational, regulatory and business expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations across the EfW plant and MRF
- Drive plant reliability, output, availability and operational performance
- Build and maintain a proactive health, safety and environmental culture
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and environmental permit requirements
- Manage KPIs, reporting, budgets, forecasting and cost control
- Support maintenance planning, annual outage activity and shutdown works
- Coordinate response to unplanned outages and plant issues
- Ensure the MRF supports consistent fuel supply into the EfW process
- Lead, develop and manage site teams through clear performance leadership
- Manage relationships with contractors, regulators, suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Identify and deliver improvements in efficiency, reliability and cost performance
About You
You will be an experienced senior operational leader with a strong background in complex plant, process, energy, waste or heavy industrial environments. You are likely to bring:
- Senior operational leadership experience in a relevant plant environment
- Experience in EfW, CHP, waste, power generation, biomass, gasification, utilities or process plant
- Strong health, safety, environmental and compliance awareness
- Experience managing site teams, KPIs and plant performance
- Commercial awareness, including budget and operational accountability
- An engineering qualification or equivalent hands-on operational experience
Desirable Experience
- Gasification
- Steam boilers, steam turbines or auxiliary systems
- NEBOSH, IOSH, IEMA or similar
- High Voltage Authorised Person status
- BOAS or similar
