Join a fast-paced engineering team where your skills will genuinely make an impact. Are you a multi-skilled maintenance engineer with a strong electrical bias and solid mechanical ability? This is a great opportunity to join a busy, high-volume food manufacturing site where engineering plays a critical role in keeping production moving, reducing downtime and improving site reliability.

You will be working on a wide range of production and site services equipment, supporting planned maintenance, breakdown response, fault-finding and continuous improvement across a modern poultry processing environment. The role would suit an engineer who enjoys hands-on fault-finding, likes variety, and wants to be part of a site where engineering is valued and your work directly supports production performance.

What you will be doing

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving production machinery and site equipment across the facility. Your duties will include:

  • Responding quickly and effectively to electrical and mechanical breakdowns
  • Fault-finding on PLC-controlled systems, motors, drives, sensors and control panels
  • Maintaining and repairing conveyors, packing machinery, chillers and processing equipment
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to improve reliability and reduce downtime
  • Completing mechanical work on gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics and basic fabrication
  • Supporting shutdowns, installations and engineering projects
  • Recording maintenance activity accurately using the site CMMS
  • Working closely with production and hygiene teams to keep the site running safely and efficiently
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards

What we are looking for

We are looking for a qualified, practical and reliable engineer with a strong electrical bias and the confidence to work in a fast-moving production environment. You will ideally have:

  • A recognised electrical qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills within manufacturing, FMCG, food production or a similar environment
  • Good mechanical maintenance ability
  • Experience with motors, inverters, sensors, control systems and PLC fault-finding
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
  • A good understanding of isolation, lock-off and safe systems of work
  • The ability to work safely and effectively in a high-volume production setting
  • Food, FMCG or poultry processing experience would be highly advantageous

You do not need to be a PLC programmer, but you should be comfortable fault-finding on PLC-controlled equipment.

What’s in it for you

This is a stable, permanent engineering role with a strong benefits package and genuine opportunities for ongoing training and development. Benefits include:

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Overtime availability
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Free hot drinks on shift
  • On-site canteen with a free meal daily

  • Discounted eggs and chicken
  • Extra celebration day after one year’s service
  • Access to DigiCare+, including annual health checks, digital GP consultations, nutritional consultations, second health opinions and mental health consultations
  • Discounted gym memberships
  • Free eye test every two years
  • Discounted mobile phone contracts
  • Yearly bonus eligibility after six months service
  • Additional allowances for First Aiders and Mental Health First Aiders
  • Wellness programme
  • Employee charity matching scheme

Why this role?

This is a hands-on engineering role in a busy food manufacturing environment where no two days are exactly the same. You will be joining a site that depends on strong engineering support to maintain uptime, improve performance and keep production running safely.
