Are you an experienced Mechanical Service Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or Mechanical Fitter looking for a varied national field-based role within renewable energy and process plant engineering? RecruitME is recruiting for a Mechanical Service Engineer to join a world-leading waste-to-value and anaerobic digestion business during a period of significant UK growth. This is a hands-on position involving planned and reactive maintenance, mechanical fault-finding, repairs, plant improvements and commissioning support across operational sites throughout the UK.

The successful candidate will ideally be based in Lincolnshire or a surrounding county and must be comfortable with regular UK travel and overnight stays for work further afield.

The Role

As Mechanical Service Engineer, you will maintain and repair mechanical and process plant equipment across company-owned, customer and partner-operated sites. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, replace failed components and safely return plant and machinery to service. The role will involve working on equipment including:

• Pumps and pumping systems
• Submersible mixers and agitators
• Motors and drive systems
• Pipework and flow systems
• Heat exchangers and heating systems
• Valves and safety systems
• Gas-storage equipment
• Sensors and instrumentation
• Depackaging equipment
• Solid feeders and conveyors
• SCADA-associated plant equipment

You may also support equipment installations, plant upgrades and commissioning projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance
• Diagnose faults on mechanical equipment, pipework and flow systems
• Maintain pumps, submersible mixers, motors, valves and heat exchangers
• Repair depackaging equipment, conveyors and solid feeders
• Competently operate primary and secondary test equipment
• Replace failed mechanical components
• Complete mechanical fitting, strip-down and rebuild work
• Safely return equipment and plant to service
• Support plant commissioning and upgrade projects
• Maintain accurate commissioning records
• Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, efficiency and performance
• Complete service reports, risk assessments and method statements
• Follow Safe Systems of Work and site procedures
• Work independently and alongside engineers, customers and contractors

What We're Looking For

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
• At least three years experience in a mechanical service or maintenance role
• Previous field-based or site-based engineering experience
• Strong mechanical engineering and fault-finding capability
• Practical experience with pumps, mixers, agitators, motors or similar equipment
• Experience working within an industrial or process plant environment
• Planned and reactive maintenance experience
• Strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work
• Experience preparing or working to RAMS
• Organised approach to commissioning and service records
• PC literate, including email and Microsoft Office
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK
• Comfortable staying away from home when required
• Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently
• Commitment to completing work correctly first time

You will also need to be comfortable working outdoors in wet, cold and occasionally challenging industrial conditions.

Location and Travel

This is a national field-based role, ideally suited to someone based in Lincolnshire or a surrounding county. Suitable locations include Lincoln, Grantham, Newark, Sleaford, Boston, Gainsborough and surrounding areas across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Cambridgeshire and South Yorkshire. Regular UK travel and overnight stays are an essential part of the position. Fuel, travel expenses and accommodation are paid for work further afield.
