We’re recruiting for a well‑established manufacturing business with a modern production facility, where engineering plays a key role in driving performance, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement. This is a hands‑on role where you'll be trusted to take ownership of machinery, solve problems, and contribute to site improvements — not just react to breakdowns.

What’s in it for you?

  • Day shift pattern – no nights
  • 4 on 4 off rotation offering excellent work‑life balance
  • Stable, long‑term opportunity within a busy production site
  • Opportunity to work on continuous improvement projects
  • Strong collaboration between engineering and production teams
  • A business that values and invests in its engineering function

The Role

As a Multi‑Skilled Engineer, you'll support the day‑to‑day running of a modern manufacturing facility, ensuring equipment reliability and minimising downtime. You'll be involved in both reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM), as well as contributing to improvements across machinery and site performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly to breakdowns and minimise disruption to production
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance with a proactive approach
  • Diagnose and repair faults across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Support continuous improvement and machinery upgrades
  • Drive plant uptime and contribute to OEE improvements
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs
  • Work closely with production teams to support site performance
  • Liaise with contractors and external suppliers when required
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, GMP, and hygiene standards

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in FMCG or food production
  • Multi‑skilled with NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering
  • Completed engineering apprenticeship
  • Electrical qualification (16th or 17th Edition minimum)
  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience working in fast‑paced production environments
  • Good IT skills and experience using CMMS systems
  • Strong communication skills and team‑focused attitude
  • Experience within chilled or food manufacturing environments would be advantageous

This role would suit someone who:

  • Takes ownership and responsibility for their work
  • Enjoys problem‑solving in a fast‑paced environment
  • Wants to be part of a team focused on improvement, not just reactive maintenance
  • Is proactive, practical, and driven to make an impact
