Are you an Electrical Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer looking for a well-paid permanent days-only role?

We are recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join the engineering team at an established feed mill in Ashbourne.

This is a genuine DAY SHIFT role working 4 on, 4 off, 6am6pm, giving you regular four-day breaks and avoiding the rotating day/night patterns commonly found in manufacturing and process engineering.

This is a feed mill engineering environment not a food production or kill factory.

You will work as part of the Mill Engineering team, taking responsibility for maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment, reducing downtime and ensuring the site remains safe, compliant and operational.

Your Shift

  • DAYS ONLY
  • 4 days on, 4 days off
  • 6:00am6:00pm
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Regular four-day breaks
  • Additional on-call / out-of-hours breakdown cover
  • Β£22.53 per hour

The Role

As Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the reliability and maintenance of the mill.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across mill equipment
  • Responding to electrical and mechanical breakdowns
  • Fault finding and repairing machinery to minimise production downtime
  • Ensuring an effective maintenance plan is in place and followed
  • Supporting the site's breakdown and call-out arrangements
  • Monitoring maintenance performance and providing regular KPI information
  • Maintaining pressure systems in line with legal and insurance requirements
  • Supporting maintenance purchasing and engineering stock control
  • Working within agreed maintenance budgets
  • Maintaining the site permit-to-work system
  • Ensuring maintenance activity and contractor work complies with health and safety requirements
  • Supporting environmental compliance across your area of responsibility
  • Providing out-of-hours breakdown cover when required
  • Supporting engineering improvement and plant reliability initiatives

What We're Looking For

You will ideally have:

  • BTEC Level 4 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • A recognised electrical engineering qualification
  • 17th Edition or later electrical qualification
  • A mechanical qualification or strong mechanical maintenance capability
  • Experience of planned and reactive maintenance within an industrial environment
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills
  • A practical, hands-on approach to engineering

You will also be:

  • Organised and methodical
  • A good communicator
  • Comfortable working as part of a team
  • Flexible in response to operational demands
  • Able to prioritise breakdowns and maintenance requirements effectively

Experience within milling, manufacturing, processing, agriculture, bulk handling, FMCG or another industrial engineering environment would be particularly relevant.

We are also keen to hear from engineers with transferable experience gained within the Armed Forces.
