RecruitME is recruiting for experienced I&C Metering Engineers / Electric Metering Engineers to join a leading UK smart energy and metering business. This is a field-based role covering Central London, working on commercial and industrial metering sites. It would suit an experienced I&C Field Metering Engineer, Three Phase Metering Engineer, AMR Metering Engineer, Half Hourly Metering Engineer or Commercial Metering Engineer with strong customer-facing skills and a good understanding of electrical metering systems.

The I&C Metering Engineer Role

As an I&C Metering Engineer, you will work predominantly independently across customer sites in Central London, reporting into the Operations Manager and supported by a Field Coach and wider field operations team. Your work will be planned weekly and will involve daily travel to commercial and industrial customer sites. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing and communication of AMR, Whole Current, Low Voltage, High Voltage and Half Hourly meters.

The role involves a mix of technical metering work, customer interaction, data retrieval, communication testing, stock control, health and safety compliance and field-based problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain Low Voltage and High Voltage Code of Practice meters
  • Work on AMR, Whole Current and Half Hourly business metering systems
  • Carry out communication testing for meters and loggers
  • Restore metering communications where required
  • Retrieve data from metering equipment
  • Deliver excellent service to commercial and industrial customers
  • Liaise with the delivery support team and wider field operations team
  • Maintain safety standards and follow working procedures
  • Complete all compliance and health and safety paperwork
  • Control and manage van stock effectively
  • Represent the business professionally on customer sites

About You

To be considered for this I&C Metering Engineer role, you will ideally have experience working within the metering industry and a good understanding of different metering solutions.

You will need:

  • Experience as a Metering Engineer, Field Metering Engineer or Electrical Metering Engineer
  • Experience working on commercial, industrial or I&C metering sites
  • Knowledge of AMR, Half Hourly, Whole Current, LV or HV metering
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent IT skills across digital platforms
  • Strong customer-facing skills
  • The ability to work independently in a field-based role
  • A strong approach to health, safety and compliance

Essential Qualification

  • EUSR registered up to Three Phase Whole Current

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installations or equivalent
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • City & Guilds electrical qualification or equivalent
