This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing smart-metering operation offering structured training, long-term career development and an OTE of up to £54,000.
Gas Engineer Upskilling Programme
Experienced Gas Engineers will complete an approximately 10-week dual fuel training programme, including:
- Formal training through the company’s academy
- Practical training on patch with an experienced Dual Fuel Engineer
- Support to build the portfolio required for sign-off
- A salary of £35,000 throughout the training period
- An increase to £43,258 basic salary once successfully qualified
- OTE of up to £54,000 through bonus, overtime and callout
Once signed off, you will work independently across the CA postcode area, installing and maintaining smart meters while delivering excellent technical, safety and customer-service standards.
The Role
As a Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineer, you will:
- Install and maintain gas and electricity smart meters
- Complete metering and logger communication tests
- Deliver consistently high first-time completion standards
- Contact customers ahead of scheduled appointments
- Provide a professional and positive customer experience
- Explain the benefits of smart metering clearly to customers
- Work with operational support teams to complete jobs efficiently
- Follow all safety, compliance and working procedures
- Maintain company tools, equipment, stock and vehicle standards
- Support colleagues with complex jobs and emergency cover when required
- Contribute to continuous improvement and technical excellence
Gas Engineer Upskilling Requirements
To join the training route, you will need:
- Practical experience working as a Gas Engineer
- Relevant and current domestic gas qualifications
- Strong technical and fault-finding ability
- A genuine commitment to completing the training and portfolio programme
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- A full UK driving licence
- Previous smart-metering or electrical experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided.
Qualified Dual Fuel Engineer Requirements
Qualified applicants should have:
- Previous dual fuel smart-metering experience
- CMA1 or CCN1, REGT1, MET1 and MET2
- Level 2 Diploma in Smart Metering Dual Fuel/Power, or equivalent evidence of electrical competence
- Knowledge of relevant industry governance and compliance
- Strong first-time completion and technical-performance standards
- A full UK driving licence
