We have several permanent opportunities for experienced Class 1 TIG Welders / Fabricators to join a brand-new, purpose-built, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility near Stamford and Oakham. This impressive new facility features the latest welding equipment, X-ray inspection technology, CNC machinery and advanced robotics, giving you the chance to work in a modern, high-quality engineering environment. Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30am–4:00pm
- Friday: 7:30am–1:00pm
The Role
As a Class 1 TIG Welder / Fabricator, you'll produce high-quality welded and fabricated components for technically demanding, bespoke engineering projects. This is varied, project-led work involving different materials, fabrications and engineering challenges rather than repetitive production welding. Your responsibilities will include:
- TIG welding and fabricating components from engineering drawings
- Reading and interpreting isometric, fabrication and engineering drawings
- Working accurately with both metric and imperial measurements
- Preparing materials through cutting, sawing, drilling, grinding, pipe bending and threading
- Carrying out Class 1 / ISO 3834 welding and fabrication
- Reading and working to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Producing fillet, lap, corner and butt welds
- Working in accordance with ASME IX and ISO 15614
- Working with carbon steel, stainless steel and high-nickel alloys
- Supporting components through X-ray and radiographic inspection
- Maintaining high standards of quality, workmanship and safety
- Supporting wider engineering projects in the UK and potentially overseas
What We're Looking For
You'll need:
- Previous Class 1 TIG welding or coded welding experience
- Strong fabrication or plating experience
- Experience within pressure vessels, oil and gas, pipefitting, heavy engineering or another high-integrity engineering environment
- The ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings
- Experience working to WPS documentation and welding procedures
- Knowledge of welding preparation processes
- A full UK driving licence
- Experience producing welds subject to X-ray or radiographic inspection would be highly advantageous.
You will be required to complete a Class 1 TIG fillet weld test as part of the recruitment process.
