We are recruiting on behalf of a growing environmental services and renewable energy organisation for an experienced Plant Supervisor to take responsibility for the safe, efficient and compliant day-to-day operation of a busy food waste and oil processing facility. This is a hands-on operational leadership role, ideal for someone with experience in process operations, waste management, anaerobic digestion, food waste processing, oil recovery, recycling, utilities, manufacturing or heavy plant environments.

As Plant Supervisor, you will manage daily site operations, lead operational teams, drive production efficiency, maintain high safety standards and support the plant in maximising processing outputs and revenue streams. The role includes responsibility for managing employees, production and efficiency, with the core objective of ensuring the plant runs smoothly, efficiently and safely.

The Role

  • Managing day-to-day plant operations across food waste and oil processing activities.
  • Ensuring resources, staffing and operational support are in place to maintain effective site coverage and optimise processing outputs.
  • Supporting production efficiency and helping maximise gas potential across associated AD operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with HSE, Environmental Permit, PAS 110, ABPR and ISCC procedures.
  • Supporting and managing regulatory visits where required.
  • Acting as nominated COTC where required and ensuring suitable COTC cover is in place.
  • Controlling and managing operational costs to help achieve site budget targets.
  • Managing and coordinating employees through 1:1s, team meetings, performance management and project meetings.
  • Ensuring safety procedures are implemented and followed by employees, visitors and contractors.
  • Maintaining high standards of site hygiene, housekeeping, health and safety.
  • Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
  • Leading by example and promoting a positive safety culture across the site.

About You

We are looking for a confident and organised Plant Supervisor, Process Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, Shift Supervisor or Site Supervisor with experience in a fast-paced operational environment.

You should have:

  • Relevant process management experience or at least 12 months experience in a similar supervisory role.
  • Strong communication, workforce management and resource planning skills.
  • Good computer literacy and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • A reliable, discreet and diplomatic approach.
  • The confidence to lead teams, manage performance and support operational improvement.
  • A strong understanding of health, safety, compliance and site procedures.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be highly advantageous:

  • Waste management, food waste, recycling, anaerobic digestion or renewable energy.
  • Heavy plant operation, including FLT, telehandler or similar licences.
  • Relevant Waste Transfer Certification / COTC cover.
  • First Aid.
  • IOSH Working Safely.
