Help Shape Brighter Futures for Young People: We have an amazing opportunity for a Youth Engagement specialist. Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people? We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Youth Engagement Officer to join our Jobs Growth Wales+ team, covering Abergavenny, Abertillery and Blackwood. You'll play a vital role in engaging young people aged 16-19 who are not currently in education, employment or training (NEET), supporting them to access life-changing opportunities through our programmes.
About the Role: Working within your local communities, you'll build strong partnerships with schools, youth organisations, charities, local authorities and community groups to identify and engage potential learners. Using your networking, relationship-building and communication skills, you'll promote the benefits of the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme, generating learner referrals through outreach activities, presentations, events and community engagement. Working closely with Centre Leads and Learner Coaches, you'll ensure every learner receives a smooth and positive transition from initial enquiry through to programme enrolment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, engage and recruit young people onto the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with schools, colleges, youth organisations, local authorities, charities and voluntary organisations.
- Develop strong relationships with community groups and referral partners to generate learner opportunities.
- Promote the organisation and its programmes through networking events, careers fairs, presentations and local promotional activities.
- Generate learner referrals through business development, community engagement and marketing initiatives.
- Meet agreed recruitment and learner engagement targets and key performance indicators.
- Support employer and stakeholder engagement activities across the local area.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure an outstanding learner journey from referral through to enrolment.
- Maintain accurate learner records using internal systems and ensure compliance with organisational procedures.
- Champion safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in every aspect of your work.
About You: We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and confident building relationships across local communities. You'll ideally have experience in:
- Youth Engagement
- Employability or Welfare to Work
- Education or Training
- Apprenticeships
- Careers Advice or Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)
- Recruitment or Employer Engagement
- Business Development or Community Outreach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong presentation and networking abilities. A proactive, self-motivated and target-focused approach. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Confidence working independently and managing your own diary. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office. An understanding of safeguarding and working with vulnerable young people. Knowledge of local organisations supporting young people would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
