We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Depot Manager to join one of the UK's leading independent providers of technical services and solutions to the construction industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Depot Manager, Branch Manager or Operations Manager who enjoys a hands-on role and is looking for the autonomy to take ownership of the day-to-day running and performance of a busy depot.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will lead the depot team across Hire & Sales, Service, Logistics and Warehouse, ensuring excellent customer service, operational efficiency and strong team performance.

Location: Leeds

Candidates must have the following skills and experience to be considered:

  • Proven experience in Depot Management, Branch Management or Operations Management
  • Experience within plant hire, tool hire, equipment hire, construction or a similar industry is desirable
  • Proven leadership and people management experience
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Good IT and systems literacy
  • Strong organisational and numeracy skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy operational environment
  • Flexible, proactive and hands-on approach
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Taking responsibility for the day-to-day running and performance of the depot
  • Leading, motivating and managing the depot team
  • Ensuring customer enquiries are dealt with promptly and professionally
  • Managing customer contracts and ensuring systems are accurate and up to date
  • Ensuring depot procedures, policies and systems are consistently followed
  • Coordinating effectively with Sales, Logistics, Accounts and Procurement
  • Planning efficient driver routes and daily logistics
  • Maintaining company vehicles and fleet standards
  • Ensuring staff are appropriately trained, compliant and professionally presented
  • Managing staffing levels, holidays and uniforms
  • Producing reports in line with company requirements
  • Supporting customers and the wider business when required
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety across the depot
  • Driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement
