The Role
As a CMM Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring components meet exacting customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards. Working closely with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams, you will be responsible for inspecting and verifying precision-engineered components throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and operate CMM inspection equipment.
- Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Produce detailed inspection reports and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
- Work collaboratively with Production and Engineering teams to drive quality improvements.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer quality requirements.
- Maintain calibration and traceability records.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a CMM Inspection or CMM Programming role.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience using CMM software and inspection equipment.
- Knowledge of First Article Inspection (AS9102) processes.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, gauges, and shadowgraphs.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to quality inspection.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Desirable Experience
- Engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
- Aerospace, defence, medical, automotive, or other high-precision manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of SPC, MSA, PPAP, ISIR, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience working within AS9100 environments.
- Understanding of special process controls and audit requirements.
