An established and busy hydraulics business is looking for a skilled Workshop Machinist to join their team. This is a hands-on role working on hydraulic rams and components, combining machining, fault diagnosis, and repair work. You'll be a key part of the workshop, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and delivered safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on hydraulic rams and components
- Strip, inspect, refurbish, and rebuild hydraulic cylinders
- Test completed units to ensure safe and reliable operation
- Operate manual lathes (including Colchester machines)
- Liaise with customers on job requirements and provide quotes
- Manage stock levels and coordinate outsourced work where required
Person Specification
- Experience working with hydraulic rams/cylinders (preferred)
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out full strip and rebuilds
- Experience operating manual lathes
- Good understanding of workshop practices and health & safety
- Organised, able to manage workload and maintain stock levels
