An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a dedicated team in Cardiff. The practice is seeking a candidate with a passion for animal care and the expertise to provide high-quality surgical and medical treatment to a variety of small animals. The role offers the chance to work in a modern, well-equipped facility, featuring state-of-the-art digital x-ray and dental x-ray equipment, a separate cattery and kennels, and full IDEXX laboratory machines.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct thorough clinical examinations to assess animal health and diagnose medical conditions.

- Perform surgical procedures and treatments where required, ensuring the highest standards of care.

- Work confidently in sole charge, supported by a capable team of nurses and support staff.

- Prescribe medications and develop tailored treatment plans for individual patients.

- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting diagnoses, treatments, and follow-ups.

- Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering guidance on treatment, nutrition, and preventative care.

- Stay up to date with developments in veterinary medicine through ongoing CPD.

The Role Hours:

This role is ideal for someone seeking a better work-life balance with occasional weekend shifts. The position involves working 1 in every 3 to 4 Saturdays, from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM.

- Competitive daily rate or pro-rata salary (up to £60,000 DOE for full-time equivalent)

- VDS and RCVS fees paid

- Free on-site parking

Requirements:

- A degree in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent, recognised by the RCVS

- Valid RCVS membership with the right to practice in the UK

- A minimum of 2 years experience working in the UK

- Comfortable working in sole charge

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong clinical and surgical competence

- Compassionate and empathetic approach to animal care
