Permanent Veterinary Surgeon – St. Helens

  • Consultations, neuterings, and small surgical procedures, with branch sole charge and hospital support

About the Role:

Our client is seeking a confident Veterinary Surgeon to deliver high-quality consultations and routine surgeries across both branch and hospital settings. Around half of the role will involve sole charge at the branch level, with the option to make this the primary focus for candidates who prefer it, supported by the hospital team. The rota includes either 1 in 8 weekends or two Saturdays and one Sunday over eight weeks. There is an expectation to contribute to the out-of-hours rota for holiday and sickness cover. Individual progression is encouraged, with support from colleagues holding certificates in medicine, surgery, and diagnostic imaging.

About the Package:

The practice promotes flexible working and continuous professional development, with a benefits package that includes a salary of £38,000–£60,000 p/a reflective of skills and experience, 6.6 weeks paid holiday including bank holidays, £1,750 CPD allowance with one week for CPD, paid RCVS and two additional memberships, VDS cover, enhanced family leave, discounted veterinary fees, wellbeing support through Health Shield, My Perks discounts, Cycle to Work scheme, company sick pay, colleague engagement surveys, annual pay reviews and career progression opportunities.

About the Practice:

The practice is a tier 3 hospital and training centre with comprehensive facilities that include digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, CO2 laser, laparoscopic equipment, a 64-slice CT scanner, and a 1.5T MRI scanner, plus an on-site diagnostic laboratory. It operates a close partnership with a referral service and runs a 24/7 emergency provision. The location offers access to Liverpool and Manchester with strong transport links, and proximity to the North Wales and Lake District countryside.
