Production Supervisor sought to join an award-winning, multimillion turnover food manufacturing company based in Bilston. They are a privately owned company who supply numerous sectors including foodservice, retail, wholesale and catering, both in the UK and abroad. This is a permanent, full-time role, 35-40 hours per week.
The Role
As Production Supervisor you will lead all production operations within your assigned area, ensuring that production, quality, safety, and cost targets are consistently achieved. This includes managing Line Supervisors and production teams to deliver efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing performance in alignment with company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance. The role involves planning, organizing, and coordinating production schedules, managing workforce performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will ensure that all systems, procedures, and production activities operate efficiently and effectively to meet the Companyβs operational objectives.
Operational Management
- Lead and oversee multiple production areas, ensuring all KPIs, productivity, and efficiency targets are achieved.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve line performance, and enhance cost efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Line Supervisors and Production Operatives to build a high-performing and motivated team.
- Conduct regular team briefings, performance reviews, and staff appraisals.
- Oversee training compliance, ensuring staff are fully trained and competent for their roles.
- Ensure consistency in the application of discipline, grievance, and attendance procedures.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within the workplace.
- Foster teamwork and open communication across all departments.
- Ensure staff rotation, attendance, and timekeeping are managed effectively using company systems.
- Recognise and reward performance while addressing underperformance constructively.
Measurable performance indicators
- Safety β Incident frequency, near-miss reporting, and compliance audit results.
- Quality β Product complaints, customer non-conformances, and GMP audit results.
- Efficiency β OEE, yield, waste reduction, and downtime performance.
- Leadership β Staff engagement, training compliance, and turnover rate.
- Continuous Improvement β Achievement of CI projects and KPI improvements.
The successful Production Supervisor will demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a production supervisory role within a similar environment.
- Experience in food manufacturing would be highly beneficial.
- Experience of reviewing and developing working practices and SOPs.
- Experience of staff management including recruitment, appraisals, development etc.
- Experience of achieving production KPIs.
- Effective communication skills at all levels.
