Job Details
- Role: Heavy Plant Fitter
- Location: Liverpool (commutable from Ormskirk, Southport, Burscough, St Helens, Warrington, Skelmersdale, Haydock, Widnes)
- Hours: 07:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday, 47.5 hours per week. Saturday 07:00 – 12:00 when required.
- Pay: £24 – £26 per hour (depending on experience); overtime £32 per hour outside standard hours.
- Duration: Permanent.
- Benefits: Standard pension, 20 days paid annual leave plus Bank Holidays, additional service days after 5 years.
Role and Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, servicing and repairs on heavy plant and wash plant equipment used within the recycling operation.
- Maintain excavators, loading shovels, crushers, screeners, and wash plant machinery to ensure safe and efficient performance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults, carrying out preventative maintenance to maximise machine uptime.
Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
- Previous experience of heavy plant service and maintenance work.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent experience working on plant machinery including loading shovels, excavators, wash plant, crusher and screener equipment.
- Proven experience of troubleshooting, diagnostics, fault finding and breakdown repair.
- City & Guilds / NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a busy maintenance team as a Heavy Plant Fitter.
Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
- Previous experience with aggregate wash plant maintenance.
- Electrical engineering qualifications.
- NPORS / CPCS Plant Tickets.
Additional Information
- Saturday morning work may be required depending on operational needs.
