Recruit4staff are representing a well-established engineering business in their search for a Semi-skilled Workshop Operative to work in St Helens.

Job Details

  • Pay: £14.35 per hour (Overtime paid at x1.5 of basic Monday–Saturday, x2 of basic on Sundays)
  • Hours of Work: 38 hours per week – Monday to Thursday, 8am–4:30pm, Friday 8am–2pm
  • Duration: Permanent
  • Benefits: Up to 6% employer pension contribution, 20 days holiday + Bank Holidays, Welplan Insurance, PPE provided (Overalls, T-shirts, Jumpers, £35 Safety Boots voucher)

Job Role

As a Semi-skilled Workshop Operative, you will support various operations within a busy fabrication workshop. Duties include assisting Fabricator Welders, working with machinery such as guillotines, hydro form, press brake, and pillar drills, as well as painting and cleaning assembled parts. You will also be responsible for using the company van to pick up and deliver parts, and ensuring the workshop is kept safe, clean, and well maintained.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • Full Driving Licence
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Experienced in setting & operating machinery
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling work

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • C&G/NVQ in a mechanical engineering discipline
  • Previous experience of steel fabrication work
  • Experience of MIG or TIG welding
