Job Details – Mechanical Fitter

  • Pay: Up to £36,420 per annum (Depending on experience)
  • Pay rate: Up to £17.51 per hour (Depending on experience)
  • Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (08:00–16:30 Monday to Thursday & 08:00–15:00 Friday)
  • Duration: Permanent

Job Role: The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for mechanical fitting, maintenance, and assembly across a range of marine craft. Key duties include stripping, overhauling, and assembling specialist equipment such as bearings, gearboxes, generators, and pumps. The role involves bench work following schematics, the assembly and modification of mechanical components, and carrying out repair work. The Mechanical Fitter will also work on both small and large marine crafts, collaborating with colleagues to complete high-quality projects within set deadlines.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

  • Proven record in Mechanical Fitting covering maintenance and assembly
  • Experience stripping, overhauling, and assembling specialist equipment
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of how to work through mechanical problems with the design team
  • Experience within new build and/or repair and maintenance environments
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Time served / Apprentice Trained Mechanical Fitter or NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Qualification

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the marine engineering or shipbuilding sector
  • Experience working on small or large marine craft
  • Knowledge of marine engines and propulsion systems

Job Role: The Hydraulic Fitter will be responsible for the installation, manufacturing, and maintenance of hydraulic and mechanical systems. You will assemble and install hydraulic systems based on technical drawings, bend rigid pipes, manufacture custom hose assemblies, and build skid assemblies. You'll also conduct pressure testing, commission systems, troubleshoot faults, and ensure all work complies with HSEQ and site safety standards.

  • A trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Hydraulic Technology or equivalent
