Recruit4staff are representing a well-established manufacturing business in their search for a HSE Manager to work in Crewe.

Pay: Up to £50,000 per annum

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8.15 am – 4.30 pm with flexibility as and when needed

Duration: Permanent

Benefits: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, 5% EE, 4% ER via salary sacrifice

Job Role

The HSE Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental management systems to ensure full compliance with legislation and recognised industry standards. The HSE Manager will promote a positive safety culture across the manufacturing site, supporting managers and employees to maintain best practice in health, safety and environmental performance. The successful HSE Manager will oversee accident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective and preventative actions while managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems. The role will involve coordinating audits, supporting risk assessments, overseeing fire compliance, managing environmental monitoring activities and ensuring waste streams are handled in line with current legislation. The HSE Manager will also liaise with external regulatory bodies and certification organisations while driving continual improvement in environmental and safety performance.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as an HSE Manager or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with root cause analysis, trend analysis and implementation of CAPA processes
  • Strong communication and motivational skills
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management
  • GCSE Mathematics and English (or equivalent)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

  • Experience within the print and packaging industry
  • Knowledge of carton and leaflet manufacturing including lithographic printing processes
  • First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate and AED certification
  • Additional IT or safety system management experience

Additional Information

  • Responsible for managing environmental monitoring including waste streams, utilities usage and environmental risk assessments
  • Liaising with external bodies including the HSE, Environment Agency, BSI and Fire & Rescue Service
  • Supporting compliance with ISO9001, PS9000, BRC/IOP, FSC and PEFC standards
