The Role
We are seeking an experienced Portering Lead to lead and manage multi-site logistics services, including Portering, Waste, Grounds, Gardens, and Litter Picking. You will ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations while driving service performance, staff development, and customer satisfaction. On a 5/7 rota, you will act as the senior operational lead on weekends, maintaining service continuity and supporting collaboration across all service lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee Portering, Waste, Grounds, Garden Maintenance, and Litter Picking services.
- Ensure safe, timely, and compliant patient movement, specimen transport, waste management, and grounds upkeep.
- Maintain high-quality service standards, workflow efficiency, and resource deployment.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to plan for high-demand periods and operational pressures.
- Lead, develop, and engage teams while ensuring HR compliance and workforce planning.
- Monitor KPIs, SLAs, audits, and compliance with statutory, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
- Manage budgets, labour, equipment, stock, and procurement for cost-effective operations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and contribute to performance reporting and service improvements.
About You
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) with experience in a similar operational management role.
- Experience managing multi-site logistics, portering, or facilities services.
- Strong commercial awareness, contract knowledge, and KPI management experience.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Results-driven, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or ability to obtain).
