FM Conway are currently seeking a Skilled Operative to join our Strategic Networks team within our Structures Division. As our Skilled Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of construction activities, ensuring all works are delivered with care, attention to safety, and in line with RAMS and company procedures. Working as part of a site team, you will also help to maintain good housekeeping, minimise waste, and ensure that all plant and equipment is used safely and correctly. This is a full-time permanent position based from our head office in Sevenoaks, Kent, working on our South London contracts.
The duties of the Skilled Operative role will include:
- Carrying out all works with care and with attention to safety, using the appropriate tools, safeguards, and PPE
- Reporting any incidents, accidents or points of concern to your line manager or the Site Management without delay
- Ensuring that all materials are used correctly, and that waste is minimised by good housekeeping employing the briefed work methodology
- Ensuring that company and externally hired plant is in working order before use and to ensure that it is used correctly by competently trained individuals
What skills and experience do you need?
As a Skilled Operative, you will have a strong understanding and ability to support with various skills such as setting up sites, pavement construction, kerbing, concreting, drainage, hard landscaping. You will also have a Level 2 NVQ qualification and competence in at least one construction trade and ideally have previous experience in highways construction. Understanding of health and safety as well as industry disciplines is essential as well as holding a CSCS card, medium / high risk confined space ticket and a full UK driving licence.
