Location: Miskin, south Wales
Renishaw’s Additive Manufacturing Group is seeking to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the new product development team at our site in Miskin, South Wales. The role will focus on taking early conceptual designs and developing them into proven Additive Manufacturing products and systems, as well as helping to support and maintain our current product platform. Renishaw’s involvement in this exciting field will have a significant impact upon the acceptance of Additive manufacturing, making this role an excellent opportunity to be part of this manufacturing revolution.
Responsibilities:
- Produce quality electrical system designs that includes machinery controls, safety circuits and low-voltage power.
- Develop and apply expertise in technologies such as PLCs, motion controls, distributed I/O, sensing and pneumatic controls.
- Produce, modify and manage high quality electrical design schematics.
- Component specification for safety and control hardware and power supplies.
- Support development and mechanical engineers with equipment testing and fault finding.
- Document evidence of safety and regulatory compliance.
- Support the validation of technical requirements to ensure the team is working towards meaningful and common goals.
- Hands‑on support in the creation and modification of machine and test hardware.
Key requirements:
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of electrical design for machinery control and low‑voltage power systems.
- Experience in the design, manufacture, testing and commissioning of machinery electrical panels.
- Ability to create and contribute to risk assessments.
- Previous experience and knowledge of designing and validating safety systems.
- Working knowledge of the latest Low Voltage Directive.
- An electrical engineering qualification.
Desirable requirements:
- Electrical CAD software proficiency.
- BS 7671 qualification would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a practical approach to design, supported by good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. You will be able to work as part of a multi‑disciplined team where communicating effectively will be key. You must be able to balance a methodical approach with the demands of working in a fast‑growth and technically developing field of engineering. The role will also require a hands‑on approach at times.
