You will be responsible for the delivery of a wide range of IT projects across the Council, from new system implementations and upgrades to infrastructure development and deployment as well as data migrations. Working with stakeholders across all Directorates, you will define the project brief, scope, objectives and deliverables, while identifying risks, dependencies and constraints to ensure successful outcomes that support both IT services and wider business process improvements.

You will take full ownership of projects from initiation through to completion, managing budgets, timelines and quality to ensure delivery within agreed parameters. The role requires collaboration with Senior Customers, third Parties and Heads of service, providing regular updates on progress to project boards, while recommending and implementing risk mitigating solutions. A strong focus on governance, reporting and cross-functional engagement is essential to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and align with organisational priorities.

You will bring strong, demonstrable experience in delivering medium to large scale IT projects, supported by a recognised (or working towards) project management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMI or APM. With a solid understanding of IT systems, infrastructure and software delivery, you will be confident in managing the full project lifecycle, from start up, planning and estimation through to implementation, while applying robust governance, risk management and assurance practices.

Your experience will include working with stakeholders, managing suppliers and contracts, overseeing project finances, and ensuring projects remain on track in terms of scope, budget and delivery. As a skilled communicator and problem-solver, you will be highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. You will demonstrate strong leadership and influencing skills, collaborating effectively across teams while also working independently when required.

You will be the subject matter expert in project methodologies and techniques including estimating and scheduling and management of assumptions, dependencies, risks and issues. You will play a key role in driving successful outcomes, supporting teams, and ensuring high standards of delivery.
