We are looking for an Operational Architect to support the development, governance and adoption of operational architecture for the work we do across our client’s live services and technology estate. This role is ideal for an experienced operational or technical professional looking to develop their architectural capability, working closely with senior architects, service teams and product stakeholders.
You will contribute to ensuring that Capgemini delivers and operates reliable, resilient, observable, maintainable and well‑governed services across the environment lifecycle that are aligned to our client’s strategic direction and requirements. You will work under the direction of the Head of Operational Architecture, gaining exposure to enterprise‑scale services, strategic tooling and live service governance, while building confidence in technical assurance, stakeholder engagement and architectural thinking.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your role:
- Support operational assurance of live services, helping ensure they remain technically fit for purpose and meet ongoing operational requirements.
- Assist in identifying and documenting technical and operational risks, working with senior colleagues to define mitigations and improvement actions.
- Contribute to technical management activities during major incidents or key business events, supporting escalation, analysis and communication.
- Help maintain and evolve service improvement roadmaps, particularly for observability, monitoring and alerting capabilities.
- Support governance activities, including reviewing solution designs for cross‑portfolio consistency and alignment with operational and observability standards.
- Work with architects, service teams and suppliers to support the handover of new or changed services into live.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of observability standards, guidance and blueprints.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve the use of observability data for service insight and continuous improvement.
Your skills and experience:
- Essential: Experience working in IT operations, live services, or technical support environments.
- Broad technical awareness across applications, infrastructure and networks.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- An interest in architecture, governance and service improvement.
- Strong organisational skills and a willingness to learn and develop.
- Desirable: Exposure to monitoring, observability or logging tools (e.g. Dynatrace or similar platforms).
- Experience supporting incident management, service improvement, or operational assurance.
- Awareness of working with architects, suppliers, or multi‑team delivery environments.
Personal Attributes:
- Curious, analytical and keen to develop architectural skills.
- Collaborative and comfortable working across teams.
- Able to take guidance while gradually building confidence and independence.
- Adaptable and responsive to changing priorities.
