We are currently looking for a Team Leader to join our team at Essential Care and Support Limited – Peterlee. Team Leaders play a vital role in ensuring the people we support receive high-quality, person-centred care that promotes independence, dignity and wellbeing, while leading and supporting staff to deliver outstanding support.

We support individuals with a wide range of needs including mental health conditions, personality disorders, physical disabilities, forensic backgrounds, acquired brain injuries and learning disabilities. The Team Leader Role

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team to deliver safe, compassionate and person-centred support, ensuring the people we support are empowered to live fulfilling lives within their community. As part of this role you will be required to participate in on call duties, working day shifts, sleepover shifts and weekends. You will act as the front-line manager, supporting approximately 12 colleagues, while also completing essential administrative, compliance and operational tasks to ensure the service runs safely and effectively.

About the Service

A detached supported living service consisting of 21 self-contained flats and studio apartments which is set out in blocks, where people live independently in their own homes with tailored support, such as:

  • Promoting independence and life skills
  • Cooking and supporting individuals in their own homes
  • Medication administration and oversight
  • Taking part in fun activities and community outings
  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the people we support

There is a central communal area with kitchen and toilet facilities used by colleagues, with planned communal activities for the people we support which include cooking sessions, arts & crafts, lunch club, coffee morning. Support is delivered flexibly and in partnership with the people we support, their families and external professionals. We engage in lots of physical activities to encourage a healthy mind and promote social inclusion at every opportunity ensuring we engage the people we support in activities in the community whenever safe and possible.

At Essential Care and Support we support people with:

  • Forensic backgrounds
  • Multiple and complex mental health conditions
  • Learning disabilities
  • Hearing impairments
  • Substance misuse histories
  • Physical health needs

Shifts are worked on a rota’d basis over 7 days per week and include day shifts between 7am – 10pm, sleep ins and weekends.

This ensures we deliver a safe, consistent and high-quality service that meets individual needs and outcomes.

Your Role as a Team Leader Will Include:

  • Leading and supporting a team to deliver person-centred support
  • Providing hands-on support and role-modelling best practice
  • Completing weekly payroll tasks and rotas
  • Completing weekly audits and quality checks in line with compliance requirements
  • Overseeing medication management and online care systems
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are met
  • Supporting and reviewing individual support packages
  • Working closely with professionals and families
  • Ensuring CQC standards, company policies and legislation are adhered to

The most important qualities needed are the ability to treat others with respect, listen to their needs and understand their emotions. You must be kind, friendly and honest, with a passion for supporting others.
