We are seeking a skilled and adaptable individual to carry out maintenance, repair and improvement works across public realm assets, including paths, fencing, benches, bins and play equipment. The role involves inspecting public spaces such as play areas and public conveniences, recording defects and carrying out responsive repairs, including basic plumbing and carpentry. You will respond to urgent issues including vandalism, damage and safety defects, ensuring risks to the public are addressed promptly.
Duties also include supporting flood management activities such as monitoring water levels and operating sluice gates where required. You will install signage and temporary barriers in line with legislation and safe systems of work, including NRSWA requirements where applicable. The role requires the safe use of tools, plant and equipment across a variety of maintenance and construction-related tasks. You will work flexibly across different locations and as part of a rota undertake regular out-of-hours and standby call-out duties.
You should have experience in civil engineering, groundworks, building maintenance or multi-trade work, with practical skills in carpentry, plumbing or general construction, and a good understanding of health and safety requirements.
