As an experienced Geo-Environmental specialist, you’ll help lead and develop our offering in this growing discipline.

You’ll provide technical expertise across a diverse portfolio of projects, including infrastructure, water frameworks, prestigious heritage and defence sites, while helping to shape the future of our environmental services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide geotechnical and / or contaminated land advice to our multi-professional teams
  • Work to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on time
  • Manage site investigation contracts
  • Design and supervise Phase 1 and Phase 2 ground investigations
  • Undertake geotechnical design work and / or prepare GQRA and DQRA and remedial strategies
  • Support the wider environmental team across a variety of technical projects

About You

Our ideal Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer should have

  • A relevant degree in Engineering, Geology, Geography or a related scientific discipline.
  • Chartered status, or be working towards a professional qualification (e. g. CGeol, CSci, CIWEM, IEMA or ICE).
  • Experience managing geo-environmental and ground investigation projects, including scoping, procuring and managing site investigations.
  • Experience preparing Phase 1 Geo-Environmental Desk Studies, factual and interpretative Phase 2 Site Investigation Reports, and Ground Investigation Reports.
  • Experience undertaking GQRA, alongside either DQRA or geotechnical design (e. g. foundation and pile design, earthworks specifications or slope stability assessments).
  • Experience managing site investigation contractors in accordance with CDM 2015, with a sound understanding of the Principal Contractor role.
  • The ability to mentor and support junior team members, both in the office and on site.
  • Strong client-facing skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients, contractors and regulators.
  • Experience preparing Construction Phase Plans and Flood Risk Assessments would be advantageous.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills.
  • A collaborative, proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Awareness and application of relevant British Standards, including BS 5930, BS EN 1997-1 & 2 and BS 10175.
  • Knowledge of AGS data format, Open Ground, QGIS, Auto CAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK driving licence would be beneficial as projects are across the UK.
  • SMSTS qualification.
  • CSCS Card.
  • CAT and Genny training.
