Full time and hybrid Fixed term, 22 months, starting Sept 1st 2026.

Join us and be part of an interdisciplinary project studying the health and environmental impacts of particulate emissions from tyres (HEI‑PET). The postdoctoral research associate will develop new methods for studying the environmental transmission and evolution of tyre particulates once generated from a car tyre or existing road debris.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy a novel experimental campaign to investigate tyre transmission pathways to the environment.
  • Plan and conduct outdoor experiments in partnership with the project’s engineering team.
  • Carry out laboratory-based particulate aging studies with the project’s microbiology team.
  • Establish links between particle characteristics and their environmental/health impact.
  • Contribute to the interdisciplinary project assessing health and environmental impacts of tyre particulate emissions.

Qualifications

  • Background in Geography, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Track record in authoring original work for academic journals.
  • Experience with typical chemical characterisation techniques.
  • Experience characterising microplastics and particulates using imaging techniques.
