FM Conway is currently looking for an experienced Class 1 & Class 2 Multi-Skilled Driver to join our dynamic Surfacing division. This is a varied and hands-on role supporting our surfacing and highways operations by transporting plant, machinery, materials and specialist equipment safely and efficiently across our projects.

As a Multi-Skilled Driver, you will be responsible for operating Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles, transporting plant using a low loader, delivering fuel using a diesel bowser, supplying water using a water bowser and supporting operational teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule. This is a full-time, permanent position, working both days and nights, based out of Chelsfield, Kent.

As our Class 1 and Class 2 Multi-Skilled Driver you will:

  • Safely operate Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles across a range of highways and surfacing projects.
  • Transport surfacing plant and equipment using a low loader in accordance with company procedures and road transport legislation.
  • Deliver diesel to site plant and equipment using an ADR-compliant diesel bowser.
  • Supply water to site operations using a water bowser to support dust suppression and operational requirements.
  • Carry out daily vehicle and equipment inspections, reporting defects and ensuring all vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant.
  • Load, secure and unload plant and equipment safely, ensuring all loads are transported in line with legal requirements.
  • Complete all required transport documentation, vehicle checks and delivery records accurately.
  • Work closely with Supervisors and operational teams to support the planned works programme.
  • Follow and promote safe working practices in line with company policies and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Identify and communicate any resource or logistical requirements to ensure efficient delivery of works.

What skills and experience do you need?

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Driver with a strong background within the highways, surfacing or construction industry. You will have:

  • A valid Class 1 and Class 2 UK driving licence.
  • A valid Driver CPC qualification.
  • A valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • CSCS card.
  • National Highways Passport (Desirable).
  • A current ADR Licence (minimum for the transport of diesel/fuel).
  • Previous experience operating a low loader and transporting plant and machinery.
  • Experience operating diesel and water bowsers within a highways or construction environment.
  • A good understanding of load security, transport legislation and vehicle compliance.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
