At Trustpilot, we’re on an incredible journey. We’re a profitable, high-growth FTSE-250 company with a big vision: to become the universal symbol of trust. We run the world’s largest independent consumer review platform, and while we’ve come a long way, there’s still so much exciting work to do. Come join us at the heart of trust!
We’re looking for a curious, methodical, and eagle‑eyed Fraud Detection Specialist to join our global Fraud & Investigations team. You’ll act as our frontline investigator auditing data, identifying new fraud patterns, and validating our existing defenses to help stop fraud in its tracks. You’ll be the intelligence engine of the team. You’ll investigate bad actors, compile reports, and feed critical insights to our Analysts. If you have a knack for spotting anomalies, love solving puzzles, and want to make a real difference in protecting consumers and businesses, this is your chance.
What you’ll be doing:
- Investigate & Audit: Conduct deep dive investigations into categories and areas where we have taken action to tighten our intelligence net and find the patterns that we are currently missing with our detection.
- Validate Defenses: Perform regular audits and validations on our existing fraud detection engines and rules to ensure they are highly accurate and that false positives are kept to an absolute minimum.
- Gather Intelligence: Compile detailed reports on review seller networks and other bad actors to provide actionable intelligence for the wider team.
- Build the Funnel: Spot new, undocumented fraudulent behaviors and translate those patterns into a continuous funnel of actionable insights for our Analysts to build rules around.
- Query Data: Use basic SQL to navigate our databases (like Google BigQuery) to pull the information you need to support your investigations.
- Handle Escalations: Carry out manual investigations of escalated cases related to potential misuse of our platform and assist with media, legal, and customer inquiries.
- Collaborate: Work closely with and report to our Senior Fraud Detection Analysts and Manager of Fraud Analytics, acting as the investigative bridge between raw data and our technical rule writers.
Who you are:
- A Natural Investigator: You have a meticulous eye for detail, a methodical approach to problem solving, and a talent for recognising hidden patterns in everyday data.
- Data Curious: You are comfortable working with datasets and translating your findings into clear, actionable reports.
- Basic SQL Knowledge: You understand the fundamentals of SQL (or are eager to learn them). You don’t need to be a coding expert, but you should be comfortable pulling your own data.
- Organised & Proactive: You can manage multiple audits and investigations simultaneously without losing sight of the finer details.
- A Clear Communicator: You can explain exactly how a bad actor is operating in a way that makes it easy for technical analysts to understand and act upon.
- Experience: Prior experience in Trust & Safety, fraud investigation, moderation, or a similar analytical role is a big plus, but a highly curious mindset is the most important.
What’s in it for you:
- A range of flexible working options to dedicate time to what matters to you.
- Competitive compensation package + bonus.
- 25 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 days after 2 years of employment.
- Two (paid) volunteering days a year to spend your time giving back to the causes that matter to you and your community.
- Rich learning and development opportunities supported through the Trustpilot Academy and Blinkist.
- Pension and life insurance.
- Health cash plan, online GP, 24/7, Employee Assistance Plan.
- Full access to Headspace, a popular mindfulness app to promote positive mental health.
- Paid parental leave.
- Season ticket loan and a cycle-to-work scheme.
- Central office location complete with table tennis, a gaming corner, coffee bars and all the snacks and refreshments you can ask for.
- Regular opportunities to connect and get to know your fellow Trusties, including company-wide celebrations and events, ERG activities, and team socials.
- Access to over 4,000 deals and discounts on things like travel, electronics, fashion, fitness, cinema discounts, and more.
- Independent financial advice and free standard professional mortgage broker advice.
- Talent acceleration programs: Fast-track your career with our tailored development programs designed to support growth at whatever stage of your career.
Still not sure? We want to be a part of creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive world of work for all. We’re excited to hear about your experiences as well as how you will contribute to our working culture. So, even if you don’t feel you don’t meet all the requirements, we’d still really like to hear from you!
