Overview

The role is to prepare learners for transitions into adulthood and to work with learners to achieve outcomes of their Education, Health and Care Plans. You will work within the Sense values to:

  • Keep the needs of the learners at the centre of your attention at all times
  • Enable learners to influence their services and the way they are supported
  • Help Sense to provide a high quality education experience
  • Support people with their personal care as part of their duties

The duties are varied and no two days are the same. You may support with personal care needs and assist learners to take part in a wide range of activities that support health and wellbeing.

Working pattern: Fixed term role, 22.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time). Normal hours are Monday to Friday, 8.45am – 3.45pm.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths is essential
  • Experience or training in working with people who have sensory impairments, autism or learning disabilities is advantageous; training in BSL, Makaton or other communication methods can be provided
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team with initiative, experience of person-centred planning, keeping records up to date and providing personal care
