We are seeking a Lead Data & AI Engineering Manager to lead cross-functional engineering teams in the design, build, and delivery of data-intensive platforms and AI-powered solutions supporting Balance Sheet Management (BSM). You will own end-to-end delivery across the data and AI lifecycle, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, well-governed, and aligned to strategic business outcomes within a highly regulated banking environment. This role requires strong technical leadership, close collaboration with business and product stakeholders, and hands-on experience delivering advanced data and AI solutions at scale.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your Role:
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams to design, build, and deliver data-intensive platforms and AI-powered solutions aligned with strategic business priorities.
- Own end-to-end delivery across the data and AI lifecycle for Balance Sheet Management (BSM), from data ingestion and modelling to ML model development, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
- Act as the AIPX Delivery Manager, leading the design and delivery of robust data pipelines and high-quality derived data products aligned with AIPX architecture and performance standards.
- Provide strong technical leadership across data architecture, cloud engineering, and AI/ML capabilities to ensure scalable, secure, and well-governed solutions.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, data teams, and business stakeholders to prioritise backlogs, manage risks and dependencies, and translate requirements into actionable technical plans.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, including coding standards, DevOps and MLOps pipelines, testing frameworks, and technical documentation.
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging data and AI technologies, leading proofs of concept, and embedding Responsible AI principles across delivery.
- Work across multiple technology teams within the bank, contributing to large-scale application and platform development.
Your Skills:
- Core Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of AI techniques and approaches, with hands-on experience applying AI in previous roles.
- Strong understanding of Generative AI models and LLMs, with the ability to select the right model for specific business use cases.
- Experience using AI tools and platforms to accelerate idea-to-value delivery.
- Strong technical background across: Data architecture and data engineering, Cloud engineering, AI / Machine Learning platforms.
- Proven experience delivering solutions in a highly regulated organisation.
- Strong knowledge of large-scale application development and working across multiple technology teams in a banking environment.
- Additional Skills
- Experience leading fast-paced delivery teams with close alignment to business functions.
- Knowledge of best-practice delivery and production support models.
- Experience establishing modern engineering practices across development teams.
- Knowledge of agentic workflow orchestration (advantageous).
- Knowledge of specification-driven development and modern AI-enabled engineering practices to support an automated SDLC (advantageous).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
