This vacancy exists in the Digital & Technology Services (D&T) directorate, which provides technical support for business operations, teaching and learning facilities for staff and students across De Montfort University. D&T works alongside Faculties and Directories ensuring DMU has the right teaching and business technologies to continue to be a university at the leading edge.

Main duties and responsibilities

Are you someone who thrives in a hands-on technical environment and enjoys supporting others through digital technology? We are looking for an experienced Senior Audio-Visual Engineer to help deliver and maintain the smooth running of our AV systems across a range of teaching, learning and meeting spaces. In this varied and practical role, you’ll be a valued member of the Digital and Technology directorates’ AV Facilities team, supporting and maintaining the AV equipment and systems across our vibrant university campus. From ensuring teaching spaces are AV-ready, to resolving live technical issues and maintaining systems for events and lectures, this is a role where you can see the direct impact of your work. You’ll have opportunities to support and influence AV design, configuration, and integration, while contributing to a responsive and supportive service. Whether it’s supporting large-scale lectures, specialist teaching spaces, or collaborative meetings, your expertise will help provide a high-quality experience for students and staff alike.

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Experienced in setting up and maintaining AV equipment in event or teaching environments.
  • Comfortable diagnosing and resolving a range of AV and IT-related issues.
  • Confident supporting users with varying levels of technical knowledge including providing internal support and training to other members of the AV team.
  • Flexible and self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to customer service.
  • A strong understanding of AV systems that include projectors, displays, audio and control systems is essential.
  • Prior experience in IT networks and AV/IT integration, including lecture capture, Microsoft Teams meetings, and PC configuration, is desirable.
