The Opportunity/Team

We’re looking for a Lead Technical Underwriter (Property) to join our Central Underwriting team where you’ll play an important role in shaping our commercial underwriting approach, supporting sustainable growth in the Technical Underwriting Discipline, and continually evolving how we work together across underwriting and governance. We know our people are our greatest strength, and we’re committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and grow.

You’ll contribute to building technical underwriting expertise across the business, sharing knowledge and supporting the development of others. What you can expect in this role

  • You’ll play a key role in the development of technical strategy, underwriting guidelines and frameworks for the property portfolio.
  • You’ll work closely with the underwriting community, helping to provide underwriting and technical guidance to support the businesses continued development.
  • You’ll contribute to the research, and agreement, of pricing, underwriting criteria and changes to Covéa’s products, focusing on quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • You’ll have opportunities to learn, develop and grow within the role, supporting and deputising for senior colleagues and management, as well as playing an active role in training and mentoring underwriters.

What you might bring

  • Experience in, or a strong interest in, Commercial Property Underwriting, with exposure to technical underwriting or portfolio management within a commercial insurance environment.
  • Skills in technical underwriting, with the ability to assess complex property risks, guide underwriting strategy, and influence portfolio performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others and communicate effectively.
  • An organised, thoughtful way of working.
  • A commitment to delivering great outcomes for customers and colleagues.

Not sure you tick every box? That’s okay. We recognise that great candidates bring different experiences and perspectives. If this role interests you and you believe you could add value, we encourage you to apply – even if you don’t meet every requirement.

  • Make it Happen – Solving problems, being creative, taking ownership.
  • Understand you – About our customers, our partners, and our people.
  • Change the Game – Caring about the big and the little things.

We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
