Make a Meaningful Impact Every Day – Multi-Site Role

We are seeking a Community Dementia Coordinator to join our amazing Community services Team. This role will require travel across London, Hertfordshire, Essex, and Brighton. More than 900,000 people in the UK are currently living with dementia, and this number continues to rise each year. Over half remain in their own homes, creating a growing need for meaningful, compassionate community-based support. At Jewish Care, we are committed to creating uplifting, stimulating, and supportive experiences for Jewish people living with dementia and their families.

About the Role

You will lead and coordinate a wide range of meaningful programmes, including:

  • Memory Way Cafés
  • Singing for Memory
  • Art for the Mind
  • Movement for Memory
  • Professional Gentlemen’s Club
  • Young Onset Dementia Coffee Mornings

You will support a team of Community Dementia Assistants, work closely with volunteers, and collaborate with community partners to ensure high-quality delivery. You will also develop new community initiatives, organise larger dementia-friendly events, and act as a dementia ambassador to raise awareness and promote best practice. This post is full-time (36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday) and involves travel across multiple sites. You will need your own transport for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day running of all dementia programmes and maintain high standards of service
  • Oversee strategic development and growth of community dementia activities across multiple locations
  • Support, manage, and develop Community Dementia Assistants
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers
  • Develop new activities in partnership with people living with dementia and their families
  • Organise larger cross-community events and celebrations
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues, community organisations, and local authorities to promote dementia-friendly practices
  • Represent Jewish Care at external forums, networks, and stakeholder groups
  • Support safeguarding processes and contribute to performance and impact reporting
  • Promote Jewish Care’s wider services and signpost individuals to additional support

Key Requirements

  • Experience in a community-based role, ideally supporting older people or those living with dementia
  • Strong understanding of dementia and the challenges faced by individuals and families
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, its culture, observance, and traditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy, compassion, and respect
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities, able to manage multiple programmes and meet deadlines
  • Ability to support, lead, and collaborate with staff and volunteers
  • Confident, calm, and solution-focused in challenging situations
  • High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems
  • Positive, proactive, team-focused approach, committed to high-quality, person-centred support
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and clear boundaries
