About the role

The Brokerage Officer is part of the Adult Social Care Contract Management & Market Shaping service, which plays a critical role in ensuring people with care and support needs are matched with safe, appropriate, and value‑for‑money care and support. The Brokerage service works closely with social work teams, providers, and commissioning colleagues to support timely placements, manage system pressures, and uphold statutory duties across Cambridgeshire.

In this role, you will carry out person‑centred brokerage activity, implementing agreed processes to source and coordinate care and support that meets individual needs while managing risk, cost, and quality. You will work within clearly defined procedures, ensuring placements are made safely and efficiently, records are accurate, and issues are identified and escalated appropriately. By resolving the majority of queries at first point of contact, monitoring your own compliance, and contributing to continuous improvement of brokerage processes, the Brokerage Officer helps reduce delays, maintain service flow, protect public funds, and improve experiences for people using services. Your work supports consistent practice across the service and enables the organisation to respond effectively to demand while maintaining high standards of quality and accountability. This role is fixed term for one year.

For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Gurdev Singh. Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of a Standard Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

About you

You will have previous experience of working across organisations in joint working arrangements including significant experience of public sector placement finding. You will have familiarity with contract management, compliance, risk assessment and performance monitoring, a proven record of participating in brokerage systems changes, programmes from planning through delivery with measurable results, delivering improved outcomes and sustainable markets. You will also have some experience in risk governance, market stewardship, and the management of provider/market failure.
