We are seeking an Applications Engineer to join our CMM & Gauging Applications team.
This role focuses on developing and optimising measurement solutions tailored to our customers inspection and manufacturing process control requirements.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with customers across a range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, and motorsport, ensuring Renishaw’s CMM and gauging products are leveraged effectively.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers to understand their inspection requirements and challenges, and develop, test, and implement customised measurement and process control solutions using Renishaw’s CMM and gauging products.
- Provide technical support to customers on the application and use of Renishaw’s CMM and gauging products.
- Participate in knowledge sharing initiatives and provide support to Renishaw subsidiaries, ensuring the distribution of best practices and technical expertise.
- Through requirements gathering and feedback, engage in hardware and software development of new products.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Keep up to date on industry trends and advancements to provide innovative solutions.
- Adhere to customer and project specific confidentiality agreements.
- Key requirements
- Level 5 (HND/foundation degree) or Level 6 (bachelor's in engineering) or equivalent qualifications in an engineering discipline.
- Proficient in CMM Programming, with demonstrated understanding of all elements of inspection/manufacturing/engineering requirements.
- Good understanding of metrology principles.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with a proactive approach to customer challenges.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non‑technical stakeholders.
Desirable requirements
- Familiarity with Renishaw’s CMM and/or gauging products.
- MODUS programming experience.
- Experience with 2D/3D machine vision.
- Skills in any of the following areas: PLC programming, robotics (Fanuc or UR), data analysis (MATLAB, Python or Excel).
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to travel, both domestically and internationally, to customer and subsidiary sites on occasion.
