About the role:
We are looking for two full‑time (37 hours per week) Business Officers to join our team, providing administrative and financial support within Children’s Services. One permanent post is based in Cambridge and will support the Family Support & Safeguarding Team. One full‑time fixed‑term post is based in Ely until May 2027 and will support the Corporate Parenting Team. This is a varied role and requires a flexible and adaptable approach.
Duties will include:
- Handling telephone calls, correspondence and communications in a variety of formats.
- Data entry, analysis and maintaining records using Excel and internal databases.
- Preparing papers and reports for meetings and distributing documentation.
- Taking minutes at statutory meetings.
- Raising and processing invoices.
- Updating children’s records on internal systems.
- Liaising with external partners and agencies.
- Providing administrative support to Social Workers and Team Managers.
You will need strong administrative skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast‑paced environment, often working to statutory deadlines. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential, as you will regularly liaise with external partners, including the Police, Health Services and Schools. You will be able to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and manage tight deadlines effectively. A methodical approach, attention to detail and strong organisational skills are key to success in this role. You should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, and experience using databases.
