This role is central to embedding a psychologically informed approach that enhances both player wellbeing and elite performance. Working closely with the coaching team, you will help cultivate a high‑performance culture, influencing practice at a system, cultural, training, team, and individual level. Alongside your direct impact on players, you will act as a strategic partner across the club, leading staff education, delivering wellbeing initiatives, and managing the academy psychology team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver psychological and personal development support to academy players and staff.
  • Lead the academy psychology team.
  • Partner with coaching staff to embed psychological principles across training and match preparation.
  • Develop and deliver wellbeing initiatives and educational programmes.
  • Provide strategic guidance on psychological performance and resilience throughout the club.

About you

You must have proven experience delivering psychological and personal development support within a high‑performance youth sports environment. As an experienced line manager, you thrive under pressure, lead teams with confidence, and are flexible to work outside standard hours during peak academy periods.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Sport Psychology or Psychology (or equivalent)
  • British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Status
  • British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES)
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
