A friendly, well-organised Community Centre Manager is required to oversee the day-to-day running of a busy community centre. This role is ideal for someone who has previously worked in a similar position and is confident managing a wide range of tasks independently. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with time split between working from home and working on-site at the centre. The position would suit an individual who enjoys varied work, thrives in a community-focused environment, and has a genuine interest in supporting local activities and services. There is also potential for future development, particularly for someone working towards a Parish Clerk qualification or Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) status, as guidance and mentoring can be provided.

What the role involves:

The role involves a combination of some Parish Council related responsibilities with the practical responsibilities associated with the day-to-day management of the Centre such as room bookings, liaising with local residents, contractors and hirers and helping to promote community events and activities. You will be involved in a mix of the below:

  • Parish Council
  • Act in accordance with the Local Government Act 1972 and other relevant legislation
  • Prepare agendas, attend Parish Council meetings, and take accurate minutes
  • Provide input at Parish Council meetings into procedural and governance matters, ensuring that the Centre complies with its legal obligations
  • Carry out the Councils instructions and maintain accurate records and files
  • Manage correspondence, respond to enquiries from residents, and maintain good communication within the parish
  • Support the preparation and monitoring of budgets and the processing of invoices and payments
  • Keep the Parish Councils website, noticeboards and records up to date in respect of the Arkwright Centre
  • Community Centre Administration
    • Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the Community Centre
    • Manage room bookings, maintain the diary, and issue invoices and receipts
    • Liaise with hirers, tradespeople, and suppliers as required
    • Ensure the building is clean, safe and well maintained
    • Support the organisation and promotion of local community events and activities
    • Ensure health and safety and fire safety requirements are met
    • Look for opportunities to encourage local use of the Centre to generate income

    Salary: £34,314 - £37,938 per year FTE, pro rata for part time.

    Hours: Working a minimum of 16 hours - flexible, working up to 25 hours during busy periods, with additional hours being claimed as overtime on a timesheet.
