Are you passionate about helping people make informed, unbiased decisions about their future? Well, this CEO role with Elderly Accommodation Counsel might be the one for you.

Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC) believe that good and trustworthy information about the options open to people is key to successfully planning ahead. They are seeking an inspirational and strategic Chief Executive Officer to lead them into a new era—building on its legacy as the UK's leading independent source of information and advice on housing for older people, and responding to renewed national interest in its mission.

EAC was founded in 1985 by individuals passionate about empowering older people to make informed choices about their housing and care. Over four decades, the charity built a trusted voice, created invaluable national housing datasets, pioneered FirstStop Advice with government support, and reached millions through its HousingCare. HousingCare.org is a testament to their commitment, attracting approximately 14,000 visits on weekdays and 9,000 on weekends, with the retirement housing directory receiving around 5 million unique page views annually.

Despite the end of government funding in 2016, EAC has sustained itself with entrepreneurial spirit, stable income streams, and deep goodwill from across the housing and care sectors. EAC are recruiting a new CEO to work alongside their outgoing leadership team during a transition period, with the support of a proposed Stakeholder Group of leading retirement housing providers.

As CEO, you will shape and deliver a compelling vision for the next phase of EAC’s development. You’ll lead the organisation operationally, inspire partnerships across sectors, and champion the rebuilding of a trustworthy national information and advice ecosystem to support older people and their families.

One of the key parts to this role is overseeing the expansion of their housing data platform and web services, while exploring new income opportunities that ensure their sustainability and reduce dependence on advertising.

  • Proven strategic leadership experience ideally in the not-for-profit, housing, care, property, elderly accommodation or public sectors
  • Passion for improving outcomes for older people and a commitment to EAC’s values of independence and integrity
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to grow sustainable income streams
  • Experience in managing small, agile teams and commissioning specialist work
  • Outstanding communication and partnership-building skills

You may currently be working at CEO, Director, or senior strategic programme level—ready to bring energy, imagination and influence to a respected charity with a vital national role. A unique opportunity to shape the future of housing options advice in later life. A flexible and remote-friendly working culture.
